Forms of publication are the open book society’s new formats celebrating innovative, conceptual, and experimental publication design across print and digital fields, as well as collaborative practices. Evolving from the Walter Tiemann Prize, the 2026 edition consists of three categories: forms of printed publication, forms of digital publication, and forms of peering. 

The new formats expand the field beyond printed publications to include digital typographic design and collaborative practices, framing publishing as a dynamic and socially engaged discipline. 

This year, the open book society awarded five publications: three for printed publications and two for digital publications. The recipients were selected by two independent international expert juries. The awards will be ceremonially presented on March 20. Following the ceremony, all guests are warmly invited to explore the publications in the exhibition. Bringing together printed and digital publications, the exhibition presents both shortlisted and awarded works from forms of publication 2026, as well as research questions developed within the collaborative context of the peering program.
