The art scholarship "Peters-Messer-Stipendium der Stadt Viersen" is an initiative of the city of Viersen and the Peters-Messer family of entrepreneurs from Viersen, founded to support young artists.

With reference to the extensive graphic art collection of the town of Viersen, the scholarship is aimed at artists whose work focusses on works on paper (prints, drawings, photography, etc.).The scholarship is intended to enable the scholarship holder to devote him/herself entirely to the pursuit and realisation of his/her artistic work and is granted for the period from August to November of the respective year.

The Peters-Messer family will provide the scholarship holder with a fixed monthly sum of €800.00.

The town of Viersen provides a flat in the centre of the Viersen-Süchteln district free of charge. The scholarship is accompanied by the Städtische Galerie im Park Viersen, which also prepares a presentation of one to two weeks' duration with the artist at a jointly selected location. This presentation can take place at the end of the scholarship period.

The scholarship holder undertakes to participate in public events in the town of Viersen, including participation in local work meetings, and to carry out at least one action or art education measure (project with children/young people/senior citizens, outdoor action, studio day, artist talk, etc.). Residency is compulsory. The maximum age of applicants is 38 years and they should have completed their studies in the arts no more than five years ago.

The application deadline is 30 April of the current year. An expert jury will make the selection in May. The jury consists of one representative from each of the awarding organisations and three representatives from the relevant disciplines (university, museum, etc.).

The jury decides by simple majority.

Application documents will not be returned. In addition to the completed form, at least three, but no more than five photos of your own work up to a maximum size of DIN A4 must be enclosed with the application. The photos must be labelled on the back with all important information about the work, e.g. title, technique, size, etc. No folders or catalogues should be enclosed. Neither portfolios nor catalogues should be submitted.

The Landschaftsverband Rheinland (LVR) is awarding the Leo Breuer Prize for the 14th time this year. In memory of the renowned painter and designer Leo Breuer (1893-1975), the €5,000 prize is aimed at artists from all disciplines whose work represents a current exploration of the concrete-constructive.

Application documents can be submitted to the LVR-Landesmuseum Bonn, Bachstraße 5-9, 53115 Bonn until 3 May 2026 (date of postmark). Applicants of all nationalities are eligible.

The application must include name and address (with e-mail address and telephone number) as well as information on the artistic career, a list of exhibitions or another form of proof of past activities.

In addition, portfolios, data carriers if applicable and up to three current catalogues illustrating the artistic development can be submitted, whereby the focus should be on the activities of the last three years. The documents can only be returned if a stamped envelope is enclosed! Please refrain from sending parcels!

Applications by e-mail will not be accepted.

An expert jury will decide on the awarding of the prize. The Landschaftsverband Rheinland will present the Leo Breuer Award on 21 September 2026 at the LVR-Landesmuseum Bonn. By applying, applicants agree that they will be available to accept the prize on this date if they are awarded it. The prize is associated with an exhibition at the Gesellschaft für Kunst und Gestaltung e.V. (gkg) in Bonn, which will open a few days after the award ceremony.

The municipality and joint municipality of Meinersen have set themselves the goal of promoting young contemporary art and, at the same time, providing the region's cultural programme with new impetus. To promote this goal, they are offering a scholarship with a residency at the Meinersen Künstlerhaus.

The scholarship is for a maximum of twelve months. The scholarship period begins by arrangement on 1 October 2026.

The organisation and implementation of the scholarship has been entrusted to the Künstlerhaus Meinersen e.V. association.

Applications are preferably open to graduates of authorised: Art colleges whose university degree was awarded no more than five years ago

Topic: PAINTING

This year's scholarship theme is painting, which continues to assert its place within the diversity of media in contemporary art. All forms of expression that deal with the phenomenon of painting, its tradition and its topicality are welcome. There are no limits to the formal and thematic interpretation of painting.

Benefits: The scholarship includes a stay in the Künstlerhaus Meinersen (living and studio space) free of rent and ancillary costs as well as a monthly grant of €800.

Conditions: This is a presence scholarship; the scholarship holder must live and work primarily at the Künstlerhaus for the duration of the scholarship.

The works created during this time are to be made accessible to the public at the Künstlerhaus Meinersen in consultation with the board, usually during a final exhibition.

In addition, the scholarship holder undertakes to conceive and realise at least one contemporary art education project. The project should be related to their own work and involve the public in a suitable form (performance, public events, projects with schools, teaching courses, etc.). The funds required for this will be made available by the association upon application, if necessary.

In addition, participation in activities and events organised by the Künstlerhaus is expected upon agreement.

The oldest surviving Alster barge from 1904 - a former open barge 18 metres long, 4 metres wide, 1.3 metres draught, without self-propulsion - was a spontaneous chance find in Hamburg's inland harbour; it had already been converted into a residential vessel, but was in need of repair. Detailed work was carried out in Stade to convert it back into an attractive residential ship, the outer skin of which was designed by the Berlin artist duo 44flavours.

The entire project was funded by the "City Centre Perspective" fund - as the European Union's response to the Covid pandemic.

The eye-catching barge has been used in a variety of ways since 2024. The focus is on an artist-in-residence programme that the Hanseatic city of Stade has set up together with the Stade museums and the Wohnstätte. Young artists can apply for the two-month scholarship in late summer via the Stade Museums website. The application deadline is 15 April of each year. During the remaining periods, the houseboat can be booked for events or as a hostel for overnight stays via STADE Marketing und Tourismus GmbH.

To promote young artists, the Hanseatic City of Stade and the Stade Museums, supported and financed by the Stade Residential Centre, offer a scholarship that provides the opportunity to spend time working, gaining inspiration and conducting research.

The call for applications is issued on 1 March and the application period ends on 15 April. The scholarship is usually awarded by 1 May of a calendar year. The duration of the scholarship is from mid-August to mid-October - it is agreed individually.

Form of award:
Living and working scholarship

A lump sum of € 3,000 is granted from the Stade residential centre's support fund for the duration of the stay. In addition, up to €1,500 will be provided as a printing subsidy for the production of a small publication.

Awarding committee:
A 5-member jury consisting of representatives of the participating institutions will decide on the award.

The Maxhaus Künstlerhaus Nordhalben is an artists' residence in the Franconian Franconian Forest.

The house offers professional artists from Germany a concentrated working stay in a quiet, rural environment.

The residency is aimed at artists from all disciplines who wish to work on their own project for a clearly defined period of time.

Living and working take place under one roof.

A residency is possible for individual artists as well as for groups of up to four people.

An important part of the residency is the exchange with the local people as well as the exploration of the surroundings and landscape of the Franconian Forest. The residency is intended as a working residency with openness for encounters, insights into the working process and a final public presentation at the end of the residency.

The Graz Residency for International Photographers (GRIP), organised by Camera Austria and Kulturvermittlung Steiermark, will enter its fifth round in autumn 2026!

The one-month scholarship offers artists working with photography or other camera-based media the opportunity to concentrate on their work and research in Graz. It is therefore desirable that the scholarship holder stays in Graz from mid-September to mid-October 2026. In addition, we require an interest in getting to know the lively local art and cultural scene and networking with it.

During the residency, the selected artist will have the opportunity to further develop an existing project or create a new one. Camera Austria's study library, which contains more than 11,000 volumes, is available for research.

During the residency, a presentation is also planned in Camera Austria's event room, where the guest will present their work to the public.

Scholarship
Kulturvermittlung Steiermark provides the following services as part of the scholarship:
+ a fully furnished flat in the city centre of Graz
+ € 1,000 for the four-week period of the stay
+ the costs of travelling to and from home and Graz

During the residency, a presentation is also planned in the Camera Austria event room, where the guest will present their work to the public.

Camera Austria - Laboratory for Photography and Theory
Since 1980, the magazine Camera Austria International has been providing its readers with insights into important debates on the role of photography as a medium and practice of contemporary art and presenting outstanding artists who have made extraordinary contributions to the ongoing development of the medium.

The exhibition programme, with a focus on solo exhibitions, largely presents long-term projects developed specifically for Camera Austria. The respective artistic positions highlight important image-political issues and cover a broad field of research into the photographic image on various levels: the ghosts of archives, questions of knowledge production, the construction of identities, artistic research, feminist critiques, the reconstruction of history or the erosion of social utopias.

Since 2019, the PLAYGROUND ART PRIZE has offered emerging artists the opportunity to present their work in a professional gallery setting for the first time.

In doing so, we are creating a platform that not only gives them visibility, but also facilitates their entry into the art world.
