In June, we will be in conversation with two conceptual artists from Leipzig whose works open up new perspectives on reality through detailed observation and in-depth research.
Frenzy Höhne explores themes such as consumerism, advertising, manipulation and social critique, which she often translates into installations that are both humorous and unsettling. Her work is characterised by techniques involving the multiplication and transformation of everyday objects, as well as a pointed use of language.
In his work, Maix Mayer blends fiction and reality by using media, art and architecture as a testing ground to explore time, space and history. The work on display at the Kunsthalle forms part of the project ‘Gulliver’s Travels / Biographical Architecture’ (1990–1997), documented in four catalogue volumes. This is based on the combination of a literary concept with an urbanistic code.
