Transformation is neither an exception nor an isolated event, but rather the fundamental condition of the presents, pasts and futures that both connect and divide us. Nothing exists in isolation or forever. Places, ideas, images, bodies, institutions and their relationships are constantly changing – depending on the respective standpoints, perspectives and ways of looking at things. Everything is interwoven with one another in space and time.
Against a backdrop of technological, political and social upheavals, the question arises as to how realities are constituted and how they (must) be continually renegotiated. The participating artists have developed perspectives and lines of inquiry into (im)possible pasts, changes and futures. The exhibition is not the end, but a moment of limbo within a (still) open process of collective action and research.
An exhibition project by Class Artistic Action and Research at the Academy of Fine Arts, Leipzig, in cooperation with the Villa Heike Kunstverein, Berlin.
