Helena Nikonole is a new media artist, independent curator and educator currently based between Berlin and Istanbul. Her field of interests includes hybrid art, bio-semiotics and Artificial Intelligence. One part of her work explores utopian scenarios of a post-human future, while another examines the dystopian present and takes a critical approach to technology.
In her talk, Helena Nikonole explores the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence in artistic practice, navigating between utopian, critical, and activist perspectives. Having worked with AI for almost a decade, she sees it both as a non-human creative agent—an autonomous collaborator that generates new artistic possibilities—and as a technological system shaped by biases, power structures, and ideological influences.
