Kyuhyun Kim studied painting at Sejong University in Seoul and continued his studies at the Bauhaus University Weimar and at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig in Prof Ivana de Vivanco's class for painting and graphics.

In his paintings, the artist captures everyday experiences from his walks in park landscapes and in the studio, which he condenses into multi-layered pictorial spaces as observation, memory or soliloquy. Window after window pile up on the canvas in front of, next to and behind each other, reflecting Kim's reflections on the representation of reality in painting.

Delicate pencil notes at the edge of the picture "I want to live with a warm heart" link to memories and conversations that we have all had around the table as a family, as a couple or alone.
