The
Yellow Carpet series presents young film and media artists. The second evening will be organised by Ayala Shoshana Guy and Mikhail Tolmachev, who will present their various media works and concepts in conversation with Clemens von Wedemeyer.
The audience is invited to take part in the subsequent discussion in a salon-style setting on a yellow carpet.
Ayala Shoshana Guy, born in Jerusalem in 1992, studied Fine Arts at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design and at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig. She is currently completing a Master's degree in Critical Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Her always very concise cross-media practice includes films and animations in which she deals with intergenerational trauma, for example. Works such as I Will Take Your Shadow have been presented at international festivals. In 2024 she was awarded the Birgit Jürgenssen Prize.
Mikhail Tolmachev, born in Moscow in 1983, studied at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig and is currently completing his doctorate at the Bauhaus University Weimar. His artistic practice includes sound installations, photography, video works and artistic interventions. The focus is on the examination of documents and the politically charged construction of truth. Using a multi-layered methodology, he often works on transformations of archive material in order to scrutinise the possibilities and limits of memory and historiography. They have been shown, for example, at the Tretyakov Gallery Moscow or Tate Modern London.
Clemens von Wedemeyer is a filmmaker and video artist and has been a member of the Film and Media Art Department of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts since 2020.
