Theme day Contaminated art? From Sigmar Polke's material politics to endangerment as an artistic strategy

The focus is on continuities and ruptures from the 1960s to the present day with regard to the aesthetic and 'political' needs of an audience orientated towards experiential aesthetics. How marketable are the effects of endangerment? What facets of contamination can be observed today and how have they changed? What characterises art that claims to contaminate? What institutional requirements and forms of attention does art that is considered contaminated demand?
