The photo film "Lange Weile" is a montage consisting of 400 b/w photographs that Tina Bara took between 1983 and 1989 in East Berlin, the GDR and while travelling. The period covers the beginnings of her photographic work, when she was still a history student looking for a way out of the ideological predicament, up to her departure from the GDR. Parallel to the picture track, which is composed of first snapshot-like photographs with friends, documentary photographs of an illegal trip to the Baltic States and forbidden photos from the VEB Buna, photos of rebellious youths, intimate body and portrait pictures as well as a photographic love story, she comments autobiographically and fragmentarily on the context from which the photographs emerged, and tells from today's perspective about the beginning of her artistic development and the role of photography in this process.
The starting point for Kerstin Drechsel's table paintings "zusammen" were conversations with women of different ages whom she had invited to dine together in order to talk to them about their (often problematic) relationship with their mothers. Fragments of these recorded conversations were subsequently transferred onto tabletops using architectural stencils. Drechsel overlays or combines the resulting objectification of personal memory fragments with painterly gestures, imprints of glasses, stickers and adhesive tapes, which motivically refer back to childhood memories and at the same time thematize the table as a venue for social relationships. Linked to this are the questions of the image, the painterly process and authorship.
