The works that artburst berlin e.V. is showing at the Culterim Backshop Gesundbrunnen in May 2025 under the title "aus der Asche" (from the ashes) revolve around the theme of "heat".
Conceived as a double exhibition, the first part "brennen glühen flirren" in October 2024 was dedicated to the causes and manifestations of heat. The works on display told personal stories, used heat as a medium and thematised its invisible presence.
But heat is far more than an individual or emotional phenomenon. How do we deal with it? What strategies have we developed to cope with its extremes? And can a longed-for Eden perhaps even emerge from its ashes?
The second part of the exhibition focusses on dealing with heat and warmth. Nine positions take a look at the influences, changes and transformative power - between destruction and creation, danger and possibility.
In the exhibition, HGB graduate Sophie Constanze Polheim shows her work "Fehlerteufel", with which she completed her media art diploma in the class for installation and space with Joachim Blank in 2023.
