On this occasion, the Ukrainian-German art collective Óstov Collective, with the kind support of the Goethe-Institut and the Freundeskreis der HGB, will be showing an exhibition of Ukrainian artists at the ODP Galerie in Leipzig from July 30 to August 17, 2002. On the basis of a specially initiated open call, the collective has selected works by a total of twelve artists from Ukraine and other European countries and brought them to Leipzig.
 
The content of the exhibition curated by the collective focuses on the human geographical concept of the "Sense of Place". In general, this refers to the emotional attachment and connectedness that people develop or experience in specific places and environments. In addition, the term is used to refer to positive bonds of comfort, security, and well-being, as well as negative feelings of anxiety, dysphoria, and placelessness that arise as a result of a place or home. Within the exhibition concept, the "Sense of Place" is freely, yet directly, applied to the context of Ukraine and serves as a link between all the exhibited works, which in this way can enter into dialogue with each other and raise questions about the relationship to home and cultural values, the transformation of history and the present, or the definition of individual as well as collective identities.
