Special exhibition to future students
on the open day of the HGB

They were placed throughout the building by first-semester students of Book Art / Graphic Design. The starting point of the works are the Truisms by artist Jenny Holzer from the 1980s. These short statements function as messages and address themes of power, norms, perception, and responsibility. Each message was set in a self-designed typeface created using the Grid Type tool. The works explore typography as an open, rule-based system that can be adapted, varied, and further developed through digital tools. The works were created as part of the seminar “Typographic Time Machine – Typography for Time Travelers” taught by Prof. Marion Kliesch.
