Sophie Lindner: Profit und Umkehr im Orbit
as part of the exhibition "On the Edges - Artistic Morphoses"
Supported by the European Social Fund Young Researchers Groups REACT-EU: As part of the Union's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The lecture performance "Profit und Umkehr im Orbit" by Sophie Lindner (*1990 in Jena) includes the reading of an essay in interaction with the poetry of the jazz musician Sun Ra. The theme of the essay is the contemplation, interpretation and use of the cosmos in the context of contemporary, economic expansion fantasies and resulting artistic resistance practices. With the help of the "Spiritual Astronaut", a counterpart to the conqueror of extraterrestrial worlds or cosmic heroes is described. As mediating instances, Sun Ra and the "Spiritual Astronaut" open up perspectives of the "mystical" as a possibility of quiet resistance in times of hyper- or deglobalization and climate collapse.
