The exhibition "Das Weite suchen" presents images from a decade that is controversially remembered and discussed today. It shows photographs by Tina Bara, Christiane Eisler, Christian Fenger, Anselm Graubner, Annette Hauschild, Ute Mahler, Jürgen Matschie, Peter Oehlmann, Ludwig Rauch, Joachim Richau, Merit Schambach and Barbara Wolff. These are works by twelve photographers who sought personal, artistic and social-documentary expeditions. Between 1983 and 1995, the artists depicted stagnation and existential change.
In the joint tour, Tina Bara and Anja Tack talk about photographic practice in the late GDR, about artistic self-assertion in times of political constriction and about the upheavals after 1989/90.Based on Tina Bara's works shown in the exhibition, including her series "BUNA", questions of East German identity, feminist imagery, working environments and memory will be discussed.
