In the YouTube format "alpha Uni", Bayrischer Rundfunk accompanies HGB graduate Franziska Koch as she embarks on her career as an artist. Watch the video to find out what challenges await her and whether she will be able to sell some of her works at her first major art fair.

Franziska Koch (*1991 in Nuremberg) lives and works as an artist in Leipzig. In 2024, she completed her diploma at the HGB in the graphics/painting class with Christoph Ruckhäberle, Franziska Holstein and Henriette Grahnert, among others. During her academic career, she received an Erasmus scholarship at the Institut Supérieur des Arts et du Design in Toulouse in 2021-22, supported by the Franco-German Youth Office.

At the centre of her work are painterly snapshots of interpersonal encounters that bring an emotion or atmosphere to life. Inspired by memories, longings, everyday observations and fashion, she often creates group portraits and portraits. Thematically, she deals with closeness, connectedness, alienation and queer sexuality and identity.
