HGB graduates Kyu Sang Lee and Clarita Maria are among the six winners of the renowned young talent competition "gute aussichten - junge deutsche fotografie".The core of the project, founded in 2004 by Josefine Raab and Stefan Becht, is an annual competition for final projects from all German universities and academies that offer a photography degree programme.
The exhibition of the prizewinners is currently on display at the Landesmuseum Koblenz / Festung Breitenstein until 3 August. The project will then travel to the Deichtorhallen Hamburg in September and from there on to the Städtische Galerie Karlsruhe.
In "Ostinato Interstice Rendering",Kyu Sang Lee, who lives in South Korea, South Africa and Germany, creates a surrealistic sign system in which originally independent cultural codes are interwoven. Kyu Sang Lee completed her masterclass at the HGB Leipzig in 2024 with " Ostinato Interstice Rendering".
Clarita Maria, who grew up in Zambia, Tanzania and Germany, explores in "Ichibukisho - Act of Memory" the question of what forms of memory are possible beyond images and what role the mother tongue plays in the act of remembering. The work is part of her successfully completed diploma at the HGB Leipzig.
