Vanessa Amoah Opoku receives Delmenhorst Art Prize

Vanessa Amoah Opoku is one of the winners of the Delmenhorst Art Prize together with two other artists. Congratulations to them! The trio's joint exhibition will open at the Städtische Galerie Delhelmenhorst in June 2025 and will be accompanied by a catalogue.

In her interdisciplinary practice, Vanessa Amoah Opoku (born 1992, master student* graduating from the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig in 2024) works with animation, 3D scans, artificial intelligence, sculpture, performance and sound. An important element of her work are 3D point cloud scans made with a smartphone, which she uses to capture places and objects and transform them into a digital aesthetic. Migration, diasporic experiences, marginalised histories and post-colonial thinking form the main focus of Opoku's work. According to the jury, her work focuses on both the narrative potential of digital world designs and the clever criticism of advancing technologisation.

With the "Delmenhorst Art Prize", which was awarded for the first time in 2025 and will be presented every two years from now on, the Städtische Galerie Delmenhorst honours graduates of art academies in German-speaking countries. The city of Delmenhorst and the Freundeskreis Haus Coburg each contribute 5,000 euros. More about the Delmenhost Art Prize...
