With the opening of the first exhibition rooms, the GRASSI Museum für Völkerkunde zu Leipzig provides an insight into its ongoing transformation. As part of the future programme REINVENTING GRASSI.SKD
the museum is gradually transforming itself into a network museum that communicates its contents more transparently than before and involves a wide range of partners and allows them to have their say.
The programme is funded by the "Initiative for Ethnological Collections of the Federal Cultural Foundation".
In the first part of the presentation, which has been open since the beginning of March, the museum's history is confronted with activist approaches to questions of restitution and work is done on postcolonial perspectives for the future.

The GRASSI Museum für Völkerkunde is a long-standing partner institution of the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig. Within the framework of this cooperation, the most recent exhibition projects include Vom Zeigen und Schauen and GRASSI invites #1: Fremd.
