Timm Rautert on his 80th birthday: From the archives...

On the occasion of Timm Rautert's 80th birthday, the historical archive of the Academy of Fine Arts is showing various images from his publications, in which works by his students and Meisterschüler students were published.

Timm Rautert (*1941 in West Prussia) is considered one of the most important contemporary German photographers. He studied photography with Otto Steinert at the former Folkwangschule in Essen. From 1993 to 2007 he taught as a professor of photography at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig. His students included Ricarda Roggan, Falk Haberkorn and Johanna Diehl. In 2008, Timm Rautert was the first photographer to receive the Lovis Corinth Prize for his artistic life's work. Rautert lives and works in Essen.
