Professors at the HGB have been supporting the work of the Freundeskreis for years by producing limited edition artworks, the proceeds of which go towards the Freundeskreis's project funding and benefit the students. The 2025 edition is by Christian Weihrauch, Professor of Painting, Drawing and Composition since 2015. Everyone is cordially invited to the exhibition of the annual edition from 6 pm, at 7.30 pm Christian Weihrauch will present his copperplate engraving "das Studium oder ein armer Poet".

In this day and age of digital communication and image reflection in public, copperplate engraving is a rare artistic process that is rarely used by artists. The technique of copperplate engraving is related to engraving and the motif is engraved into the polished copper with a pointed burin using some force and mastery, line by line, point by point. The copperplate engraving takes a lot of time and its format makes it suitable as a miniature for individual contemplation.
The intimate dialogue between the original motif and the viewer also allows the discovery of many details (with imagined spatiality and lighting). In our motif, "study" means the intensive contemplation of nature and the visible world, presented as an image of the values of past times and as a search image with various symbolisms of transience and knowledge, the reality of things and their surreal dissolution into fantasy.
