Ever since I looked through the viewfinder of my camera for the first time, I have seen you. I see you through the lens of my camera. And I see you on the prints, the photographs I make from the negatives. I am your friend. I see you posing for me in front of the church wall. We are 15, maybe 16 years old. I see you dancing with Frieder on your back at the Rock am Ring, we have the summer ahead of us and have finished our A-levels. I see you sitting on a spinning disk with Oskar on the playground in Berlin, we're in our early twenties and you look so young. You are happy. I see you pregnant with Luise. We're in Mechow, the Waschsee is very close. We've often been here together. We meet here every summer. It's a place for all our friends. A few years later, I see you diving naked through the dark, glittering water of the Sabinensee. I stand on the jetty and find you beautiful. We are friends.
