The Data Processing Centre at the Academy of Fine Arts is a technical workshop. The center’s responsibilities include operating the central data processing systems (servers, active network components) for research, teaching, and administrative tasks. Currently, approximately 200 computers are connected to the academy’s intranet, which is linked to the Internet via the German Research Network (DFN).

E-Mail

You can access HGB email and calendars via "Horde". Alternatively, you can also access them using other email programs (e.g., Thunderbird or Apple Mail). These are available for both desktop and mobile devices. Instructions for setting them up can be found in Nextcloud under HGB Internal > Data Center > Email.

Certification

The HGB uses the DFN-PKI — the public key infrastructure of the German Research Network.

Wireless Lan

Academy members can use a wireless LAN with the network name “eduroam” and the following technical parameters both in the main building on Wächterstraße and on Trufanowstraße.

SSID/Wi-Fi network name: eduroam
Security type: WPA2 Enterprise, AES
Encryption type: EAP-TTLS (internal TTLS procedure/Phase 2: PAP, external/anonymous identity: anonymous@hgb-leipzig.de)
Username: xxx@hgb-leipzig.de (i.e., your email address)
Password: Your HGB password

Furthermore, the academy participates in the DFN Association’s roaming program and thus in the eduroam project. Users registered in this network can gain access to participating institutions throughout Germany and across borders without any additional configuration.

Installation programs for Mac, Android, Linux, and Windows operating systems can be obtained from the eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool. Alternatively, you can find a summary here.

All of the academy's access points are secured within the DFN-PKI framework via the “T-TeleSec GlobalRoot Class 2” root certificate. The certificate for the RADIUS server, which verifies passwords for HGB users, is named CN=hgbwlan.hgb-leipzig.de,OU=WLAN,O=Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig,L=Leipzig,ST=Sachsen,c=DE.
