Yana Zschiedrich and Anna Perepechai receive the newly created VNG Foundation Art Prize, which was awarded jointly with the Friends of the HGB. Congratulations to them!

Yana Zschiedrich, who completed her master's degree at the HGB in summer 2024, explores the technical and artistic connection between architecture, art and ecology. As part of the Hybris research initiative, she is working on the conversion of waste into plastics and building materials. Mealworms serve her as sculptural tools that transform Styrodur into an environmentally friendly material through their secretion.

Anna Perepechai, who studies in Prof. Tina Bara's Photography and Moving Image class at the HGB, thematises the post-Soviet legacy in her works and processes her findings using various photographic techniques. Each individual sheet in the series was placed in the ground and, through vibration and chemical processes, an individual photograph was created that takes on seismographic characteristics in its contours. The artist thematises massive changes, upheavals and transformation processes.

The VNGart Prize, which comes with a prize of 3,000 euros, is awarded to up-and-coming artists. This year, the students explored the theme of transformation as part of the art competition. You can find more information about the VNG Foundation here...
