In the summer semester 2024, the current MDV semester ticket for Leipzig students will be replaced by the Deutschland-Semesterticket. This means that you will be able to use public transport throughout Germany (area of validity of the Deutschlandticket) with your semester ticket in the summer semester 2024.
Important for all students:
With the Deutschland-Semesterticket, your student ID card is NO LONGER valid as a ticket - neither in Leipzig nor throughout Germany!
- via the LeipzigMOVE app to retrieve the digital ticket via smartphone or
- alternatively as a chip card at an LVB service center.
- The Deutschland-Semesterticket can be retrieved from the LVB from two weeks before the start of the semester.
For students with an existing upgrade subscription to the Deutschlandticket:
All students who had upgraded their previous semester ticket to the Deutschland-Ticket will receive information from the LVB that their upgrade will automatically end on March 31, 2024. They must also request their new Deutschland-Semesterticket at the start of the summer semester (see above).
For students who are planning to apply for a contribution waiver (e.g. due to a semester abroad):
You can still only apply for a fee waiver in accordance with the regulations of the Studentenwerk Leipzig fee regulations. If you wish to apply for a fee exemption, this is only possible for the semester ticket fee as long as you have NOT yet claimed your Deutschland-Semesterticket. Once you have called up your ticket, it is no longer possible to apply for a fee waiver or refund.
