During the opening of exhibition of the Meister*innenschüler*innen Program 2022 on October 6, Steffen Hildebrand, collector and managing director of the G2 Kunsthalle, and Leo Wedepohl, director of the G2, awarded the Meisterschüler*innen Prize 2022. This year's prize winner is Anne Hofmann. For her final project "(F)AKTEN" she receives the prize money of 10.000 € and a working space for the period of 12 months. Congratulations! The prize was awarded for the sixth time this year.
Anne Hofmann was born in 1986 in Karl-Max-Stadt, now Chemnitz. From 2007 she studied media art at the HGB Leipzig in the fine arts class with Helmut Mark and Kilian Schellbach and at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts Lyon. In 2013 she graduated with a diploma. In 2019, she took up the Meisterschüler*innen programme with Professor Helmut Mark, and since 2021, Simon Elias Meier, media arts collaborator, has also been her mentor.
The jury statement reads, among other things:
"Hofmann's artistic works show in their realization how differently the levels of memory can manifest themselves. Skillfully, they foreground doubt about the truth of the records, revealing the subjective mechanisms behind the search for truth and making visible the traces of history in our present."
