Mourning for Joachim Jansong

Mourning for Joachim Jansong
The Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig mourns the death of former colleague, photographer and graphic artist Professor Joachim Jansong.

Born in Berlin on April 6, 1941, he studied at the HGB from 1961 to 1966 and then worked here for a year as an aspirant. In addition to his freelance work as a graphic designer and photographer, he worked as a senior assistant from 1969 and as a lecturer and head of a specialist class for photography from 1977. Between 1992 and 2004 he was a professor of photography. In his artistic work he combined photography, collage and montage with graphic techniques such as silkscreen or etching in a special way and thus already took a special position within GDR art. His artistic works included posters, graphic prints, books and illustrations.

On March 20, 2022 Joachim Jansong died in his hometown Steinbach near Freiberg.
