Va-Bene Elikem Fiatsi will provide insights into her artistic practice and her commitment as an activist for queer rights in Ghana. In recent years, anti-queer movements in Ghana and other African countries have increased significantly - a development that is unfortunately linked to the worldwide rise of right-wing movements.

About the person:
Va-Bene Elikem Fiatsi (*1981 in Ho, Ghana), also known under the artist name crazinisT artisT, is a trans woman and currently lives in Kumasi, Ghana. She works internationally as a multidisciplinary "artivist", curator, philanthropist and mentor.

In her performances, she uses her own body as a powerful, provocative medium to address issues of injustice, violence, objectification, internalised oppression, anti-black racism and systemic indoctrination. Rituals and a gender-fluid identity form central elements of her work.
