The “Kino in Bewegung” initiative has been roaming the villages and small towns of Saxony for five years: “We believe (...) in the ‘cinema principle’ as a collective emotional experience that brings people into conversation. The screenings are combined with moderated film talks that initiate discussions about attitudes, needs and values based on the specific films.” Together we will watch Jürgen Böttcher's documentary Arbeiterfamilie: Arbeiter:innen des Dresdener VEB Transformatoren- und Röntgenwerk haben gute Kontakte zu Künstler:innen des Staatstheaters Dresden; excerpts from the amateur film Günter Becker will also be shown; “they show the ‘complex rationalization’ in the factory, (...) also a dance by Vietnamese women who are doing their ‘internship’ in the factory”. This is what film scholar Ralf Forster writes in his book on amateur film in the GDR. He will introduce us to the film movements inside and outside the cultural centers of the GDR with some examples of cine films.
The presentation of the Kino in Bewegung initiative is part of the “Clubs of the Future” project on shared spaces in transitional societies.
