Places of remembrance and monuments represent historical narratives and are an expression of social attitudes. In the seminar on Leipzig's history, students of photography and book design/graphic design at the HGB Leipzig studied key historical events and the associated places of remembrance.
What is remembered today and how? Which narratives are evoked? Which are concealed? How does a young generation view the symbolism of remembrance of past generations? And what current and future issues do the students address to society with their analyses?
The edition brings together artistic postcards in which the students deal with the representation of history, sometimes critically, sometimes ironically.
The edition will be presented at MZIN / MdbK Leipzig from 8 to 29 February 2024 and is available there for 15 Euros.
There will be a talk with Julia Kurz, Dieter Daniels and Sven Bergelt at 6 pm on February 29, 2024 as part of the exhibition.
