The exhibition KEINE ILLUSIONEN explores the properties and limits of the medium of painting by means of different contemporary positions. On display are works by four invited artists, some of whom are creating new works for the exhibition: The "radical painting" of Ingo Meller meets the partly larger-than-life painting surfaces of Rolf Rose, which negate the handwriting of the brush and seem to materialize color itself. Cornelia Baltes' painting, which stands between abstraction and figuration, blurs the boundaries between image and space, while Shila Khatami's compositions of perforated steel-aluminum plates address the medium of painting itself. The range of these painterly explorations is expanded in the interplay with selected works from the Hamburger Kunsthalle collection: among others, Dana Greiner (*1988), Dominik Halmer (*1978), Sabrina Haunsperg (*1980), Franziska Reinbothe (*1980), and Helga Schmidhuber (*1972) will be represented with works.
