The multi-part workshop REMOTE WORDS provides a deeper insight in front of and behind the scenes (making of) of the interdisciplinary long-term project at the intersection of art, literature, design, internet culture and navigation technologies. In cooperation with institutions from the field of art and culture, suitable messages are found that are permanently installed on the respective roof tops. The capital letters applied with paint form semantic units with the respective location and surroundings. After a certain time, they will become visible by means of satellite photography and the view from space, and will be disseminated worldwide via virtual globes such as Google Earth or Bing Maps. In the workshop during the winter semester 2022/23, a collaborative process will be conducted to find the appropriate words that are able to represent the identity of the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst also over a longer period of time via the view from space. The joint conceptualization and decision, the application process as well as the joint implementation (probably in the summer semester 2023) are an essential part of the project.
