The exhibition provides insights into the illustration class of the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst and aims to juxtapose examples from student days and current professional practice.
Signatures, interests, development possibilities and career paths can thus become clear in a concise but exemplary manner. An idea can emerge of how paths lead after diploma or Meisterschüler*innen-studies.
Katja Schwalenberg and Thomas Matthaeus Müller, who have been teaching in the class for a good 15 years, take a broad view of the profession, but still regard the book as an ideal vessel for narrative images that are worldly and imaginative. In the House of Books, therefore, this focus of the work in the classroom will be prominently featured, though enriched by excursions into other formats and discoveries in new areas of activity. In addition, the exhibition will provide an insight into what students of the class are currently working on.
