It's a book is the annual gathering of producers in the field of independent publishing in Leipzig and will take place for the 13th time in 2022. For the ninth time in a row, it will be conceived, organised and artistically designed by students at the HGB Leipzig.
It's a book sees itself as a marketplace for books and an exchange point for ideas and debates. After the fair was transferred to the digital space last year, the Independent Publishing Fair will once again take place on site at the HGB. And because there is no going back,
It's a book is going online again this year with the digital marketplace and the live-streamed symposium on a revamped website.
The organisers will welcome Sandra Hetzl, Anna Jehle, Anja Kaiser, Swantje Lichtenstein, Julia Schäfer, Juliane Schickedanz and Dirk Sorge to the symposium. This year's symposium will focus on questions of access, accessibility and access-creation. What are the prerequisites for participation? Who can read and understand writing, signs and codes in order not to be disqualified in debates? Where do reinterpretations take place and what stance do individuals take? How can we proactively introduce our own proposals in our articulation in order to emancipate ourselves from established attitudes and to empower others and ourselves between experiment, non-conformity, speculation and usability?
