Under the title STRANDFESTKINO, the concrete ruin on the former fairground by the Mühlteich in Pomßen is being given a new lease of life. Between 1968 and 1991, the ‘Strandfest’ took place here – an annual summer festival featuring cinema, music and a diverse cultural programme, organised by an association that ceased to exist after German reunification. What is the atmosphere like in this place today? What happens when its history is brought to light once more and meets short films made after 1991? Together, we’d like to spark a conversation: what memories, images, sounds and perspectives are brought to life in the process, and what do they evoke in us today?

In between, artist Anna Zett invites an open exchange between filmmakers and the audience in a playful dialogue format.
The film evening at the old fairground is a collaboration between the Leipzig-based initiative Kino in Bewegung, the IDEAL art space and the Pomßen cultural project Composta, and is being organised in partnership with the Pomßen Museum.
