IDEAL art space
Why do we archive ourselves, our families and communities? What do these archives embody, what do they do with us? And what is their significance from a queerfeminist and intersectional perspective? On two film evenings, Kunstraum IDEAL presents cinematic works by artists united by an investigation of the potentials as well as limitations of non-institutional photo archives.
Personal photographs of past times do not always tell of a wistful loss, but of knowledge shared, as imitation, reproduction and creation. Any accumulation of documents can become three-dimensional through cinematic engagement, a place, a house. The films look beyond the emotional significance of named archives and ask how such places can be organized, not least to give access to others.
