The works of Raisan Hameed (*1991, Mosul) combine personal memories with traces of collective history. Damaged photographs, digital fragments and archival material are used to create quiet, multi-layered narratives about loss, migration and the survival of the past. Hameed investigates how destruction and memory inscribe themselves into images and how new forms of visibility can emerge from these traces. His works move between documentation and poetry, between closeness and distance, and open up a space in which the invisible can be experienced. The exhibition After Image examines what remains of the image when its surface is destroyed, erased or altered. What comes after the image? And how do memories materialise?

Raisan Hameed is an Iraqi-German multimedia artist who lives and works in Leipzig. His works often deal thematically with personal experiences of war, migration and memory. Born in Mosul, Iraq, in 1991, he studied painting at the University of Mosul and worked as a press photographer. Since 2016, he has continued his art studies at the Academy of Fine Arts (HGB) in Leipzig. After graduating as a Meisterschüler in 2025, he is also an art lecturer at the HGB. Hameed uses various media such as photography, film and installations to transform personal memories into universal narratives. In his work, he explores how historical and geopolitical events shape individual and collective memories.

HGB students are once again organising a two-day Soli Winter Flea Market, where their own works, prints, photographs, drawings, ceramics, small sculptures, paintings, gadgets, jewellery, comics, zines and much more will be on display and for sale. The HGB's Academy for Transcultural Exchange will also be represented with a stand. Here, HGB teachers will be selling publications, artist prints and editions for a donation. The proceeds will go towards financing the TestDaF examination fees for AtA students.

There will also be drinks and snacks and childcare in the "Radical Kidz Space".

The exhibition Global Fascisms critically examines the aesthetic, social and political dynamics of fascism and scrutinises its appeal and ideological mechanisms. A central aim is to understand fascism not only as a historical phenomenon, but also as a persistent global threat that transcends its historically limited definition and manifests itself today in various political, cultural and social contexts. Focusing on the historical and contemporary context in which far-right ideologies thrive, the exhibition questions contested concepts such as 'identity', 'community' and 'belonging'.

At the end of their 12-month scholarship for contemporary photography from the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation, photographers Susanne Keichel and Roxana Rios will present their current projects and talk about their artistic work.

Susanne Keichel has been working on the three-part photo and video work Social Justice over a longer period of time. The trilogy consists of the parts Origin, School and Labour.

In the work complex Echo , Roxana Rios examines the role of photography in the (de)construction of traditional identity categories. Both artists will provide insights into their projects and work processes in a discussion.

Studio event on the occasion of the purchase of 79 works by Michael Riedel by the Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt M.

On this evening, the collection of the works can be experienced live in the artist's studio.

The art handling will be moderated by Michael Neff and Silke Hohmann, whose open microphone will also allow numerous participants to have their say.

The Freitagsküche will be cooking delicious finger food over an open fire!

HGB artists Zoe Popp and Hannah Francke give a public guided tour of the exhibition KLIMAX KLIMA at Schloss Neuhardenberg.

Climate change is one of the most pressing and existential crises of our time, no longer a dystopian vision of the future, but a phenomenon of the present. It is not only the temperatures that are changing - the political and social climate is also changing noticeably, in Neuhardenberg and the surrounding communities, in Germany and internationally.

Can art, which often recognises changes seismographically, make change visible? In the summer of 2024, students from the Hamburg University of Fine Arts, the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig and the Academy of Fine Arts Munich came together in Neuhardenberg to explore the possibilities of art in times of climate change in a summer photography workshop.

Can forests be archived before they are cut down? What does the nature of the soil have to do with climate change? How do we deal with invasive species? What is alien to us? What is familiar? The students have spent a year examining these and other questions. In a special exhibition, they attempt to find answers using artistic means.
