The digital archive project tendencies has been continuously documenting artistic creation at the HGB since 2020 on the basis of graduates' works.
All the works of the HGB graduates are arranged on a map. Six tendencies are shown in color: solid, soft, dense, open, dynamic, static. Each graduate has selected none, one or more of these six different attributions for their own final project, e.g. with regard to the content and/or materiality of their own work and/or completely different aspects (e.g. how does my work feel to me?). In this way, the designers make attributions of the artistic/design work interpretable in different ways and give all artists the opportunity to find an individual meaning for their own work. Carla Selva Matthes and Ris Pascoe's concept thus proposes a more open restructuring of organizational systems, in contrast to the division into specialist classes or media, towards an associative representation that searches for a “common ground” between the disciplines. The Venn diagram depicts all possible relationships between the represented zones. The cross-discipline and cross-discipline class terms create new neighbourhoods and relationships between individual works and, in their entirety, may provide information about tendencies that characterize one or more years.
