New appointments: Ondřej Báchor, Michael Klipphahn-Karge, Ana Teixeira Pinto

Designer Ondřej Báchor has been the new Professor of Type Design on the Book Design/Graphic Design programme since the start of the semester. After filling the position previously held by Stephan Müller and Fred Smeijers between 2023 and 2025, he has now been appointed to the position.
The writer and cultural theorist Dr Ana Teixeira Pinto took over the professorship of Art History and Digital Cultures at the HGB at the start of the 2025/26 winter semester. She succeeds Dieter Daniels, who will retire in 2024 after more than 30 years of teaching. Julia Blume is also leaving the HGB as a research assistant at the Institute for HGB Theory after more than three decades. Her successor in this position is Dr Michael Klipphahn-Karge. The art historian has been responsible for the research focus "History and Theory of Art and Design" at the HGB since October 2025.

“The theory programme is an integral part of artistic training at the HGB and is a.o. what makes studying at the our academy unique. I am therefore all the more pleased that with Ana Teixeira Pinto and Michael Klipphahn-Karge, two outstanding academics have been recruited to further develop innovative teaching and research in art, design, media and aesthetics theory here at the HGB. Ondřej Báchor is another award-winning and internationally networked personality who will continue the academy's more than 100-year tradition of teaching writing with new impulses. I am very much looking forward to working with the three new colleagues," says Agnes Wegner, Rector of the HGB.
