On Sunday, March 19, 2023 we invite you to celebrate the launch of the WebApp "A New Movement: Re*Mapping Leipzig" at Conne Island with us! For the celebration, the project team is preparing an all-day program with a champagne reception and coffee, content and entertainment, with talks and sounds. Together with artists and authors we want to present our app to you, exchange ideas and network, have fun together, drink, eat and dance.
The resulting app "A New Movement: Re*Mapping Leipzig" allows to explore Leipzig's feminist history(s) in multimedia walks. Artistically, the app makes historical and contemporary struggles, activities and movements in public space digitally visible.
The video performance walks, audio pieces, comics and augmented reality interventions in the app were created as experimental collaborations between the participating authors, activists, artists, programmers, graphic designers and curators.
The program begins at 2 pm with coffee and cake. Together with participating artists and authors, we will present the project in readings and performances, and excerpts from the videos and sound pieces of the app will be shown with commentary and presented for discussion. There will also be information tables, which will be manned by artists and feminist associations.
Another part of the program is a non-hierarchical moderated round of talks with short reports by actors about their feminist/ political/ activist/ solidarity work, their achievements, their wishes, contradictions and struggles. The focus is especially on the question of the visibility of feminist politics in its queer and intersectional manifestations. All attendees are invited to participate in the exchange by making contributions.
Musically, the day will be accompanied by a feminist DJ collective, organized by Connie Walker aka CFM, the musician and artist who has been an actor of the Leipzig network propellas/caramba!rec since 2002.
Special guest of the event is the free performance collective CHICKS*!
