Venue:Leipziger Messe Messe-Allee 1 04356 Leipzig This year, the HGB exhibition stand is being designed by Prof. Heidi Specker's photography class. We see parasols and abstract signs... everything refers to a canal that was never built...
On November 16, 1920, the decision was made to build the Elster-Saale Canal. Work on the canal began near Burghausen in the summer of 1933. With the start of the Second World War in September 1939, work was delayed further and further and was finally stopped completely at the beginning of 1943.
The Wüsteneutzsch lock ruins are a - left over -. The photography class exhibited in and around the lock ruins in the summer of 2023.
The exhibition stand refers to this situation and turns the ruins into a fiction. The canal is built, the ships sail. Visitors to the exhibition can rest under parasols, linger with excellent publications by the students and try to decipher the shipping alphabet on the large banner...
