Prof. Ivana de Vivanco
Professorin für Malerei/Grafik

Ivana de Vivanco is a Chilean-Peruvian artist based in Berlin. Her practice conjures up theatrical scenes with uncanny atmospheres full of metaphors and sociopolitical references with a big influence from Latin American Baroque. In her paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations and films, she suggests different readings on the colony, the female body and utopia as a form of historical and personal healing.

She studied fine art at the University of Chile in Santiago and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig. Recent and upcoming exhibitions include: Instituto de Visión, Bogotá; Museum of Contemporary Art, Santiago; National Museum of Art of Romania, Bucharest; Natural History Museum, Neuchâtel; Stadtgalerie Kiel; Kunsthalle Darmstadt; Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin; Galerie Anita Beckers, Frankfurt; Bank Mab Society, Shanghai; The RYDER Projects, Madrid.
