For four days, from February 14th to February 17th the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig opens its doors. The central topic of this year's annual tour is the impact of Saxony's higher education policy on the higher education landscape in Saxonia in general and the HGB in particular. This year, the students refrain from presenting their works and thus create space for a collective action to demand better financial and structural conditions for the Academy. Studios and classrooms will be emptied and opened, a central information and service center is set up in the atrium; teachers and students are present and invite to actions and discourse.

For the party on the opening night, the HGB cooperates with the IFZ Institut fuer Zukunft. The Leipzig club was a.o. awarded the Applause Award by Initiative Musik as venue of the year 2018.

At a public network meeting, student council representatives from the art / music academies Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Halle, Dresden, Nuremberg, Munich as well as the Folkwang University of the Arts Essen and the Berlin University of the Arts travel to Leipzig to discuss the current situation in higher education policy and to get into conversation with visitors (16.02., 14 o'clock, ballroom).

At the Round Table with Leipzig cultural institutions, on Sunday, lecturers and students of the HGB will discuss with representatives of Oper Leipzig, Museum der Bildenden Künste, KV – Verein für Gegenwartskunst Leipzig, D21 Kunstraum and others on the current conditions of cultural production in Leipzig and Saxony (17.02., 14 clock, ballroom).

Space for dialogue and discussion is also created on the HGB website: at www.hgb-leipzig.de users can post questions, statements and comments during the tour, which will be answered by members of HGB according to an announced schedule. The action "Jetzt: Online" by Ludovic Balland, Lars-Ole Bastar, Anne Dietzsch and Louis Hay wants to open the discourse beyond the tour and the academy building.
