The Walter Tiemann Prize is awarded internationally every two years. This year, it is being awarded for the first time by the open book society in its 16th round. The
prize honors current publications and books that establish a connection between content, form and material through outstanding design, as well as expanding the editorial context and production process.

In addition to a content-related and conceptually reflected handling of text and image, the focus of the prize is on typographic design. Consideration is given to both publishing products and self-published and short-run publications.

The award ceremony will take place on Friday, 22.3.24 on the eve of It's a book ... at 7 pm in the Festsaal of the HGB. Members of this year's jury are Regine Ehleiter, Jo Frenken, Luke Hall, Elisabeth Klement and Sascia Reibel. The award ceremony will be accompanied by music from Oh No Noh, Markus Rom's solo project. Afterwards, the exhibition of the award-winning books of the Walter Tiemann Prize will open, which will take place together with the It's a book ... student competition and the selection of the 'Most beautiful books from all over the world' competition of the Stiftung Buchkunst as part of It's a book ... 2024 will take place.
