Conversations with Kathrin Busch, Michael Klipphahn-Karge, Ariane Müller, Joseph Vogl (21.01.2026)
In the discussion panel on the theme of the exhibition “Notes on Lightness,” lightness—or “becoming light”—represents a resistant movement that defies the pull of gravity and the unbearable weight of burdens by opening up an unexpected, surprising space of possibility. But what does “lightness” mean in art, and how can it be described more precisely? Does it always have a political and an affective, a linguistic and a physical side? Is it changing with the digital world? And how might we succeed in not falling for its (possibly baseless, commercial) promises of happiness?
With invited participants Kathrin Busch (philosopher), Ariane Müller (artist, writer, publisher), Michael Klipphahn-Karge (art historian), and Joseph Vogl (literary, cultural, and media scholar). The event will be held in German.
