about photo by @lueaux I do not want to be serious at all times. Topics can be jarring and breathtaking, in good and bad ways all simultaneously. So to me it only makes sense to have both, the serious and the lighthearted approach. Everything is a performance, from speaking in front of a crowd, to writing a journal entry. So it only makes sense for my works to become performative as well. I’m in all of it, every 3d printed layer, every two sentence sentiment. Marie Charlotte Elsner is an artist, writer and performer based in Leipzig. Her work deals with the performance and reflection of identity within digital spaces. Practices of 3d manufacturing are used as an anchor point to further transform digital performance and imagery and reconstitute both within a physical framework. Elsner herself is always present in her work and views it as a blending of both her sculptural and installation work as well as her practice as a writer and performer. She questions vulnerability, relatability and commodification of the digital self, while while constantly subjecting herself to these questions. During her two years of undergraduate studies, she developed a deep interest in digital materialities. Since spring 2024, her work has primarily focused on 3D printing and 3D scanning, combining these techniques with organic materials to create a dialogue between two thematic realms that hold personal significance.
