about Marie Charlotte Elsner is an artist currently based in Leipzig and Karlsruhe. Her artistic practice is increasingly drawn toward exploring broader narratives. These often revolve around themes of domesticity, gender, and class. Insights are typically structured and developed from personal experiences and memories, which are then translated into words, objects, and installations. A central curiosity lies in understanding how things are made and how they behave—an inquiry conducted both through material experimentation and self-reflection. Ultimately, the immediate impressions of this research remain as works in their own right. The process of organizing these thoughts has a manic quality—streams of thought are documented in black and white, yet they are merely snapshots of an ongoing process of understanding. What drives this work is the search for in-between spaces: the rapidly shifting states and the act of positioning oneself within these structures. In the end, this perpetual search within a constantly changing world defines the deeply human aspect of her practice. During her two years of undergraduate studies, she developed a deep interest in digital materialities. Since spring 2024, her work has primarily focused on 3D printing and 3D scanning, combining these techniques with organic materials to create a dialogue between two thematic realms that hold personal significance.
