Organisation of studies

On this page you will find information on how to organise your studies at the HGB Leipzig.
Portal for study organisation
The HGB uses a digital portal for the central organisation of studies: the campus management system HISinOne.

Here you will find
  • all certificates relating to your studies, e.g. your certificate of enrolment or the certificate according to §9 BAföG
  • your transcripts of records, which you can also print out from here
  • the course catalogue with the option to register for courses
  • the status of your fees to be paid
  • your contact details with the option to update them (e.g. if you move)

To log in, you must enter the name and password of your HGB email account under the Students tab. If your email account is xyz@hgb-leipzig.de, your login name for HISinOne is ‘xyz’.

Module confirmations
Successful participation in a course is confirmed by the analogue signature of the teacher.

Make sure you have the coursework signed promptly so that you can keep track of it!

You submit the module confirmations to the staff in the Student Affairs Office, who enter them into the study portal. The overview of your achievements and modules can then be accessed via your Campus Management account.

You can find the module confirmations for your degree programme in the HGB-Nextcloud (HGB intern > Studium und Prüfung > Diplom-Studium > Modulbestätigungen).
Re-registration

Students who are already enrolled must re-register at the beginning of each semester if they wish to continue their studies at the HGB. Re-registration takes place within the specified deadlines by transferring the semester fee (and any individual fees) to the academy's account.

The total amount to be paid can be found in your account in the student portal. There you can also see whether your payment has been received and whether you are officially re-registered for the next semester.
Complete the re-registration process by validating your student ID. This means that you print the new semester dates on your student ID card at our re-registration machine.

Please note that you must also re-register if you are on leave of absence or are spending a semester abroad or doing an internship. Please also transfer your payment on time, as late payments will incur a late fee of EUR 25.

Individual supporting documents (e.g. current residence permit, Imma certificate for double enrolment) must be sent to the Student Affairs Office without being asked.

Tuition fees for the MA Cultures of the Curatorial

The HGB currently charges 550 euros tuition per semester for the program.
Students should expect to have additional expenses for travel to and from Leipzig and for accommodations and board in Leipzig. They are also required to contribute to the costs of the excursions.

Tuition fees

The first degree and the "Meister*inschüler*innen" programme are free of charge. Holders of a Master, Magister, Diploma, First State Examination and other comparable degrees are charged tuition fees of €100 per semester for the Diploma programme at the HGB if the total duration of the programme exceeds the standard period of study of the previous programme by six semesters.

Bachelor's degree holders are not charged tuition fees for the second degree programme.

Students enrolled from the 14th semester onwards are charged a long-term tuition fee of €500 per semester.

Leave of absence
If you are unable to take part in your regular studies for a longer period of time, it is possible to take a leave of absence from your studies.

There must be important reasons for a leave of absence. Important reasons can be found in the enrolment regulations. Proof of the reason must be provided.

The application for a leave of absence must be submitted no later than the re-registration deadline for the following semester. In particularly justified cases, a leave of absence may also be granted after this deadline.

You can find the application form in the HGB-Nextcloud (HGB intern > Studium und Prüfung > Beurlaubung, Verlängerung der Regelstudienzeit > Antrag auf Beurlaubung). Submit this together with the relevant supporting documents to the Office of Student Affairs.

You will remain a member of the university during the semester of leave. Examinations can be taken under certain conditions.

Please note that you must re-register for your degree programme even if you are on leave of absence.
