Goethe Institut Mumbai
On the initiative of the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Mumbai, an exchange between the two established fields of study of photography at the National Institute of Design NID, Gandhinagar and the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig took place over a period of four years between 2016 and 2019.
The exhibition presents the most diverse reactions to the special moment of an exchange, to the unknown, the new, and to the abrupt changes in culture, geography, and time. How do you look at this temporary state, how do you negotiate the possibilities of a temporary home? To what extent can the backgrounds and working methods of the artists and photographers from India and Germany be transferred and translated to the country in which they are guests.
