Die Künstlerin äußert sich zum sinnlich-meditativen Charakter des Ehrenmals wie folgt: »The tolling of bells, like the sound of water, has the effect of slowing one down, interrupting routine thougts and encouraging recollection. It is this ability of bells to provide a moment of meditation that make them appropriate for a civic monument.
