Mort Garson

Mort Garson (1924-2008) was a Canadian-born composer, arranger and pioneer of electronic music. His work is diverse and extensive: among other things, he wrote songs, film scores, advertising jingles, and the soundtrack to the television broadcast of the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969.

His work contributed to the sound of synthesizers becoming part of everyday culture worldwide. In 1976, Garson's most famous work was released, "Mother Earth's Plantasia," a record "for plants and people who love them." "Plantasia" was not intended for the music market, but as an encore for the customers of the flower store "Mother Earth" in San Francisco.

The record contains ten pieces, all instrumental and created entirely on synthesizer. Each piece is dedicated to a particular houseplant.
