My enviroment shouts

Growing up as a woman in Juarez means to live in constant fear of being verbally or physically assaulted. This series of pieces highlights common cat calling phrases towards women on a daily basis. Stolen poetry made with the book El amor inteligente written by Enrique Rojas (2006), a guide to have a succesful marriage and relationship. I found it interesting to manipulate a book that can personally help you, and convert it to adress this important issue in Juarez. These pages were intervened with black & white images taken from my camera roll, all from places that I frecuently go, places where I need to be cautious of being cat called. The use of crayons to create texture and contrast with color, highlighting the phrases which were all cut out from the same book. The result is a collage full of memories of my city.
